Israel, Knesset, November 10 vote on new president

5 Novembre 2026

(Adnkronos) – The elections for the new Knesset president will be held on November 10. The current president, Amir Ohana, announced this, accepting the requests of Yisrael Beiteinu and the Democrats to anticipate the vote. The votes will therefore be held on the same day as the swearing-in, scheduled for Tuesday, “if a letter with the signatures of the majority of Knesset members is presented”, at least 61 members.

Addressing party leaders on X, Ohana said that “we will respect the members of the Knesset and if the majority of them request such a vote, I will set it for an imminent date, no later than one week. There will be no attachment to the chair. You can stop the spread of conspiracy theories in the media”.
