(Adnkronos) – Maryland voters have rejected American President Donald Trump’s immigration policies by not re-electing Republican Sheriff Chuck Jenkins, a loyal ally of the tycoon and supporter of collaboration with Ice. Jenkins had run for his sixth term, but Democrat Karl Bickel was elected in his place.
Jenkins, Frederick County Sheriff for two decades, oversaw one of the country’s longest-running programs, which for 287 days allowed local officers to collaborate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (Ice). Maryland state legislators banned such collaborations earlier this year.
