(Adnkronos) – Australian MP Helen Haines, deliberately run over by a vehicle on Monday, has had both her legs amputated. Her husband announced this, saying he was “overwhelmed by the support” received after the attack. “Helen’s left leg was amputated on Monday. We had hoped her right leg could be saved, but surgeons also had to amputate her right leg,” explained Phil Haines from the Melbourne hospital, where his wife is still in critical condition. “We have been truly overwhelmed by the support we have received” in Australia and abroad, he added.
