(Adnkronos) – At least 73 people were killed and 19 injured yesterday in Abyei, a disputed territory between Sudan and South Sudan, when drones hit a crowded market. Local authorities reported this today, attributing responsibility for the attack to the Sudanese army, an incident that sparked a diplomatic protest from Juba.
Yohana Akol Ngor, interim information minister of Abyei, stated that several drones hit the Amiet market, about 10 kilometers north of Abyei town, around 11:30 AM. He added that the explosions hit commercial areas, including a fuel-selling zone, and caused fires that complicated rescue operations.
