Israel, demonstration in Tel Aviv by 7/10 survivors and victims’ families against government 3 days before election

(Adnkronos) – The October Council, an organization composed of survivors of the October 7 attacks, former hostages, and victims’ families, and critical of the government, will organize a large demonstration in Tel Aviv, in Hostages Square, three days before the Israeli elections on October 27. The event, titled ‘In three days we will vote for a state commission of inquiry!’, aims to demand a full investigation into the failures and responsibilities related to the October 7 attack led by Hamas, entrusting it to the country’s highest investigative authority. The group wants the issue to occupy a central place on the public agenda.

At the demonstration, ‘The Times of Israel’ reports, leaders of opposition parties in favor of establishing a state commission of inquiry will speak. These include Gadi Eisenkot, a leading opposition candidate to Benjamin Netanyahu and chairman of the centrist Yashar party. Former prime ministers Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid, both belonging to the B’yachad party, Avigdor Liberman of Yisrael Beytenu, and Yair Golan, chairman of the Democrats, will also speak. The organizers describe the demonstration as the last major public event before the elections and promise some “surprises” during the initiative. “Three years later,” the Council emphasizes, “we are not willing to give up.”
