US, 3 weeks from midterms, Dems 7 points ahead for the House

(Adnkronos) – Exactly three weeks before the midterm elections, Democrats are seven points ahead in a generic House poll published today by NewsNation-Decision Desk Hq. According to the poll, reported by The Hill, 49% of respondents say they are ready to vote for a Democratic candidate against 42% who would vote for a Republican, and eight percent of voters are still undecided. The new poll therefore confirms the constant and consistent lead that Democrats have been registering for weeks, leading pollsters and analysts to believe that Democrats will be able to regain the House with the November third vote.

According to Decision Desk Hq’s forecasts, Democrats have a 76% chance of winning the House, while Republicans would only have a 24% chance of retaining it. As for the Senate, where Democrats need to snatch at least four seats from Republicans to win, the probability of the Dems taking control is 56%, while the GOP has 44% to retain the majority.

“The main question is whether this lead can grow further – says Geoffrey Skelley, head of electoral analysts at Ddhq – there isn’t much more time for a change of direction.” The poll also records Donald Trump’s popularity rating at 38%, with his unpopularity at 60%, with voters believing that inflation (28%), economy and jobs (20%), and thirdly immigration (12%) are the most pressing problems for the country. Finally, Skelley says he is “very skeptical” about the possibility that the agreement Trump reached with Vladimir Putin to introduce 300,000 tons of Russian diesel into the US market in the coming weeks could shift many votes. “Americans do not necessarily have a very positive opinion of Russia,” he concluded.
