Turkey, 5 dead in Istanbul building collapse, 3 children among victims

(Adnkronos) – Five people, including three children, died in yesterday’s collapse of a building in Istanbul, where the lower floors crumbled while the upper ones remained standing on the rubble. The collapse occurred in the Asian part of the metropolis, the city governor’s office stated. “Search and rescue operations under the rubble concluded after the last victim’s body was found at 6:15 AM,” the city governor’s office declared. Two girls aged five and ten, a twelve-year-old boy, and two other people died in the collapse, while nine people were pulled alive from the rubble.
