Netanyahu accuses former military secretary, ‘he chose not to wake me up in time’

9 Ottobre 2026

(Adnkronos) – Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu states that his former military secretary Avi Gil was aware “like others” of the imminent Hamas-led assault of October 7, 2023, “and chose not to wake the prime minister in time.” The Israeli premier himself stated this after Gil explained in an interview with Channel 12 that Netanyahu had been warned of an imminent attack. Gil’s statements to the media are “an attempt to obscure the simple and painful truth about his failure,” Netanyahu said in response to the interview.

The premier then shared on X a two-minute segment from the pro-government Channel 14 this evening which purported to counter the long interview on Channel 12. The Channel 14 segment picks up on previous reports about information received by Gil in the hours before Netanyahu was awakened at the start of the attack, including the fact that dozens of Hamas fighters had activated Israeli SIM cards to communicate during the attack and that the leaders of the terrorist group were hidden in tunnels.
