(Adnkronos) – The measles epidemic in Pennsylvania has already reached alarming proportions. Since April, over 970 cases have been confirmed in 39 counties. Nearly 200 people have been hospitalized. The State has reported five measles-related deaths, including three unvaccinated adults and two infants. The Washington Post cites Penn State Health Golisano Children’s Hospital: Gavigan’s hospital borders Lancaster County, where over a third of the State’s cases have been confirmed. Before the epidemic, measles was a rare event. This year, however, the hospital has treated between 15 and 20 cases, most of them in the last month.
