Polls, Hispanic support for Trump collapses, was decisive in 2024

5 Ottobre 2026

(Adnkronos) – Latin American voters, crucial for Donald Trump’s return to the White House in 2024, now seem intent on turning their backs on the president and Republicans in the November 3 midterm elections. According to a new NBC News/Telemundo poll, Democrats have a 24-point lead among Latino voters in the battle for control of Congress, with 59% against 35% for the GOP, double that of the same period in 2024. Trump’s approval rating among Hispanics has dropped to 27%: 78% disapprove of his handling of the cost of living, 74% of the economy, and 69% of immigration. Nearly two-thirds, 65%, also believe that the president’s policies have harmed the economy.

The main factors weighing on them are rising prices and the crackdown on immigration. 66% of Latino voters believe that the administration’s expulsion policies have gone too far, although 83% support the repatriation of undocumented immigrants who have committed serious crimes. The change could have significant consequences in states and districts with a strong Hispanic presence, starting with Florida, Texas, and Nevada. Nearly one in five Latino voters who voted for Trump in 2024 today do not wish for a Republican-majority Congress. For Micah Roberts, a Republican pollster who conducted the survey alongside Democrat Aileen Cardona-Arroyo, the reversal compared to 2024 is “surprising”: Latinos have become “the most volatile among swing voter groups.”
