Nigeria, military plane crashes, 32 people on board

(Adnkronos) – A military plane with 32 people on board has crashed in southern Nigeria. The country’s authorities have confirmed this. The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, explained on X that the military plane with tail number Ngr 931 “crashed near the Igbokoda naval base” in Ondo State. “The wreckage has been located and search and rescue operations are underway”. There were reportedly 25 passengers and seven crew members on board. The plane, which departed from Benin City, was headed for Lagos. Around 9:13 this morning, contact was lost and “all attempts to establish radio contact with the plane were in vain,” the minister stated, speaking of a “sad incident”.
