(Adnkronos) – Classes totally or partially suspended today in 400-500 French high schools due to student protests. This was announced by the Minister of National Education Edouard Geffray, explaining that safety conditions are not guaranteed in the affected institutions.

“On Friday, between 400 and 500 institutions had suspended classes and probably the same number will do so today, but with a partial and progressive resumption,” Geffray said, speaking on France 2 and France Inter. The minister also reported that 78 employees of his ministry have been injured since the beginning of the mobilization and that 24 institutions have been “burned or looted.”

The mobilization of high school students, which began on September 17 in the Paris region with protests and blockades of institutions, has progressively spread throughout the country, intensifying in recent days in numerous cities.
