(Adnkronos) – The five men, just over twenty years old, arrested as part of the investigation into the incident near the Royal Air Force (RAF) base in Fairford, also used by the US armed forces, have been released on bail. This was announced by the head of British counter-terrorism police, Laurence Taylor.
“This does not mean the investigation is over,” Taylor clarified, explaining that the five remain under investigation and are subject to “strict conditions” on their movements and contacts with other people. “We are following several lines of inquiry,” he added.
The five men were traveling in three vehicles, which were subsequently searched with the support of military personnel and forensic experts. “Significant resources” of the security forces remain deployed in the area and the site is still cordoned off. The cordon, Taylor explained, will however be reduced in the coming hours to allow residents to return to their homes.
