(Adnkronos) – New compromising revelations for Bo French, the Republican candidate for one of Texas’s main internal offices, who has already been overwhelmed by accusations of racist comments made under photos of non-white students at a University of Texas football game. Now CNN has found posts, dating back six years and since deleted, in which the candidate to lead the commission overseeing Texas’s oil and gas industry repeatedly called for the public execution of political opponents, including former President Barack Obama.
The posts date back to May 2020, when the Republican attacked on social media those he called “Obama’s conspirators” accused of orchestrating the Russiagate investigation against Donald Trump, calling for their death sentence for “treason” with execution, even for “the former president,” by public hanging. “The punishment for high treason was death, even for a former president,” French wrote in response to a post accusing Obama of the Russiagate investigation.
Several prominent Texas Republican figures, including former George Bush strategist Karl Rove and outgoing Senator John Cornyn, have said they will not vote for French, who has also called for the deportation of 100 million people and an openly Islamophobic policy for the Republican party. However, Greg Abbott, candidate for a fourth term as Texas governor, and Ken Paxton, also a controversial Republican Senate candidate who defeated Cornyn in the primaries, partly thanks to Trump’s endorsement, continue to support him.
