Tokyo, Sept. 14 (Jiji Press)–Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 stock average gave up over 1,200 points at one point on Monday morning, due to artificial intelligence-related concerns. At 9:20 a.m., the index of 225 major issues listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange’s Prime section was down 1,274.63 points, or 1.99 pct, from Friday at 62,736.71. The Nikkei slipped below 63,000 on an intraday basis for the first time since Aug. 4. AI-linked issues came under selling amid speculation that investments related to the new technology may be delayed as companies put priority on AI safety measures.
