Nikkei Average Briefly Falls over 2,000 Points in Morning

Tokyo, Sept. 11 (Jiji Press)–Japan’s Nikkei 225 stock average briefly gave up more than 2,000 points Friday morning due to selling across a wide range of issues after U.S. equities dropped overnight amid higher crude oil prices and rising long-term interest rates. At 9:20 a.m., the index of 225 major issues listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange’s Prime section stood at 63,208.63, down 2,062.32 points, or 3.16 pct, from Thursday’s close.
