China, Hong Kong sentences Tiananmen Square activists to 5 to 7 years

(Adnkronos) – A Hong Kong court has sentenced three Tiananmen Square protest activists to prison terms of five to seven years and three months for national security crimes, following a trial condemned by the United Nations, human rights organizations, and several foreign governments. 

The three defendants, Lee Cheuk-yan, 69, Chow Hang-tung, 41, and Albert Ho, 74, were convicted of “incitement to subversion” in August and have been in prison since they were indicted in 2021.
