(Adnkronos) – At least five people have died and 87 are missing after a fire broke out on a ferry off the Philippine province of Palawan, a well-known tourist destination. This was announced by the Philippine Coast Guard, specifying that, according to the ship’s manifest, there were 134 people on board, including passengers and crew members.
“Based on the data we have at the moment, with 42 people rescued and five victims, we still have 87 missing,” said Coast Guard Captain Noemi Cayabyab to a local radio station. Operations to extinguish the fire are still ongoing.
