(Adnkronos) – The death toll from landslides and floods in Nepal has risen to 1,374, according to Chinese state television, which cites Nepalese police, who say more than 5,100 people are still missing.
On August 26, a landslide on the border with China, about 20 kilometers northwest of the Rasuwagadhi border crossing, hit northern Nepal. A powerful torrent of water, earth, and rocks surged for over 70 kilometers along the riverbed, destroying surrounding settlements and flooding vast areas. At least 43 people have died in China and another 519 are missing.
