(Adnkronos) – At least 12 people have been killed and another 71 injured in Russian attacks in Ukraine in the last 24 hours, local authorities reported. In Kyiv, nine people were injured following a Russian air attack this morning that hit a 24-story residential building in the Darnytskyi district, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said. In the capital’s oblast, Russian attacks caused two deaths and seven injuries, including two children, said Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv regional state administration. In total, 31 sites were damaged across the region, including 11 houses, two apartment buildings, five production facilities and warehouses, an administrative building, a service building, and 12 vehicles, Tkachenko stated.
Russian attacks against Kyiv resumed almost immediately after a brief pause related to the visit of US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to the capital, with Russian drones targeting the city throughout the day and night. Russian forces launched 196 Shahed-type attack drones, including jet drones, in various parts of Ukraine, according to the US Air Force. Russian forces also launched Iskander-M ballistic missiles from Crimea and S8000 Banderol cruise missiles from the Sea of Azov. The Air Force did not specify the number of missiles launched.
Ukrainian air defenses shot down or neutralized 165 drones, while missile and combat drone attacks were recorded in 23 locations. Debris from downed drones fell in four places, the air force said. President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attacks, stating that efforts to address the consequences are underway in the Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and Zhytomyr oblasts. “Unfortunately, the international community has reacted too little to these attacks, which claim victims almost every day. But a response is needed: Moscow cannot face winter believing it can continue to sow terror with missiles and drones without consequences,” said the head of state. In the southern Kherson oblast, Russian attacks caused two deaths and fifteen injuries, regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin said. According to governor Oleksandr Hanzha, Russian attacks against the Dnipropetrovsk oblast caused two deaths and twelve injuries. In the southern Odesa region, Russian drones hit the Starokozache international border crossing with Moldova, killing two civilians and injuring three others, governor Oleh Kiper said. Rescuers saved another 16 people from a bus.
