Tokyo, Sept. 8 (Jiji Press)–The Japanese government has called on China to withdraw its antidumping measures imposed on imports of a Japanese semiconductor material, Chief Cabinet Secretary Minoru Kihara said Tuesday. “We have strongly protested the measures and requested their withdrawal,” Kihara told a press conference. “We will fully examine their impact and take appropriate measures to ensure there is no undue disruption to business activities,” he added. The measures, announced by the Chinese Commerce Ministry on Monday, require importers of dichlorosilane produced in Japan to pay deposits of up to 99.2 pct. The Chinese move is apparently part of a broader campaign by Beijing to tighten trade controls on Japan in response to Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s remarks last year on a potential Taiwan conflict.
