(Adnkronos) – “I abhor the public glorification of Ratko Mladic, a deceased war criminal convicted for the Srebrenica genocide and crimes against humanity.” This was stated in a note by the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Michael O’Flaherty, condemning the statements made by “officials of the Republika Srpska entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in Serbia.”
“Such glorification constitutes an offense under the law of Bosnia and Herzegovina and does not represent a form of expression protected by the European Convention on Human Rights,” O’Flaherty continued, urging “all authorities to counter the glorification of convicted war criminals and to fulfill their legal obligations to ensure accountability, protect victims’ rights, and uphold justice.”
