UK announces measures against settlements, Sa’ar ‘we will respond accordingly’

1 Settembre 2026

(Adnkronos) – The United Kingdom will introduce measures against settler settlements in the West Bank in the coming weeks. British Foreign Minister Ed Miliband announced this in Parliament, explaining that the E1 settlement project “risks making a Palestinian state unfeasible.” But ”this government will not consent to the destruction of the two-state solution – Miliband declared – We will act and in the coming weeks I will present a comprehensive package of measures”.

The Israeli response was not long in coming. ”We will act accordingly,” declared Israeli Foreign Minister Gedeon Sa’ar, arguing that the British measures would constitute interference in the elections. “If Great Britain were to act against the State of Israel, it would be an interference in the Israeli election campaign,” Sa’ar told Ynet. Such a move “would have the opposite effect to what one might imagine,” he added.
