China, two generals removed from Central Military Commission

28 Agosto 2026

(Adnkronos) – Zhang Youxia formally removed from the powerful Central Military Commission, led by Chinese leader Xi Jinping. Zhang came under scrutiny in January when news broke of an investigation into “serious violations of law and discipline,” terms that in the Asian giant often indicate accusations of corruption. Now, the official Chinese agency Xinhua merely reports a meeting of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress that “decided to remove Zhang Youxia from the post of vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People’s Republic of China”.

Liu Zhenli, another officer who came under investigation along with Zhang, was also removed from the Central Military Commission. For years, Zhang had been considered the most trusted ally of Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
