(Adnkronos) – The number of deaths caused by the forest fires that have hit Algeria in recent hours has risen to 12 – including an eight-year-old child. The victims – local media report – were registered in the provinces of Jijel (5), Bejaia (4) and Tizi-Ouzou (3). According to the Minister of Interior and Transport, Said Sayoud, there are 69 active or reported outbreaks in the national territory. In Bejaia province alone, there are also 54 injured, six of whom are in serious condition. President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has declared three days of national mourning in memory of the victims.
