Tokyo, Aug. 25 (Jiji Press)–Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has pledged to steadily continue its sanctions on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine. Attending online a leaders meeting of the Coalition of the Willing on Ukraine on Monday, Takaichi said that “we will continue steadily imposing sanctions on Russia and supporting Ukraine” as four and a half years have passed since the start of the invasion. “We always stand with Ukraine, and this stance is unwavering,” she said. The meeting took place in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. Referring to Russia’s increasing military cooperation with North Korea and its deepening collaboration with China, Takaichi said, “The security of the Euro-Atlantic region and that of the Indo-Pacific region are inseparable, and cooperation among allied and like-minded countries is becoming more and more important.” “It is essential for the international community to unite and support Ukraine in order to bring peace to the country,” she added.
