Beijing, Aug. 24 (Jiji Press)–A cross-party group of Japanese lawmakers arrived in China on Monday for a possible meeting with senior officials from the Chinese Communist Party’s International Department. The lawmakers–Gaku Hashimoto of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, Shinichi Isa of the opposition Centrist Reform Alliance and Yudai Kawamura of opposition Komeito–will seek to arrange a meeting with senior officials from the diplomatic arm of the Chinese ruling party in Beijing during their stay through Thursday. Such talks would be the first between Japanese lawmakers and CCP officials in China since bilateral ties soured following Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s remarks last November about a potential Taiwan contingency.
