(Adnkronos) – In Japan, the first death sentence in over a year has been carried out, the first since Sanae Takaichi took the helm of the Tokyo government. Justice Minister Horishi Hiraguchi announced that the sentence handed down to a 58-year-old man found guilty of killing five people in 2009 has been carried out. He had been sentenced to death for an arson attack in an Osaka pachinko parlor, which cost five lives.
It was the first execution since June last year when the death sentence handed down to a man found guilty of murdering nine young people was carried out.
