EXCLUSIVE: Weathernews to Provide Spot Forecasts to Asian Games Officials

19 Agosto 2026

Tokyo, Aug. 19 (Jiji Press)–Japan’s Weathernews Inc. will provide localized weather forecasts to about 40,000 people from the organizing committee, teams and others at the upcoming Asian Games in the central Japan prefecture of Aichi, Jiji Press has learned. The company will provide, through an app, spot forecasts for all 53 venues tailored to the competition schedule for the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, set to kick off on Sept. 19, as well as offer a multilingual question and answer function featuring an artificial intelligence agent. A Weathernews official said that the AI agent will “promptly provide answers comparable to those of a certified weather forecaster” to questions such as how an approaching typhoon could affect a specific event during the Asian Games and when it would stop raining. A three-tier color system will be introduced to assess the likelihood of event cancellations due to rain or strong winds, up to 10 days in advance. In the event of an earthquake, the Asian Games-linked officials will also be sent a safety confirmation notification based on the user’s current location as detected by the app. END [Copyright The Jiji Press, Ltd.]
