(Adnkronos) – An American Airlines plane burst two tires while landing at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport, as reported by Abc News, citing the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The airline stated that the Boeing 737-800 in question “experienced a tire issue after safely landing” at the airport around 2:00 PM local time on Monday, and that no injuries were reported.
Both the FAA and American Airlines confirmed that passengers deplaned via stairs on the taxiway and were bused to the terminal. The aircraft was taken out of service for inspections, the airline announced, thanking its team members “for their professionalism” and apologizing to customers for the incident. The FAA stated that it will investigate the incident.
Also on Monday, a United Airlines flight landed similarly, with burst tires, at the same airport. The runway was temporarily closed due to debris on the ground, and some flights had to change destination, according to flight tracking data and air traffic control audio reviewed by Abc News. In this case too, there were no injuries, according to the company, which a few days ago abruptly aborted another takeoff at O’Hare due to burst tires, according to air traffic control audio.
