(Adnkronos) – Israeli settlers set fire to fields on the outskirts of the Palestinian village of Turmus Ayya, in the central West Bank, on Monday evening. This was reported by the Palestinian news agency Wafa and several Palestinian media outlets, according to which the Israeli Defense Forces allegedly blocked a Palestinian ambulance that was trying to reach the village to extinguish the fire.
As highlighted by the Times of Israel, Turmus Ayya is one of the Palestinian villages most frequently targeted by settlers, who “have established several illegal outposts in the vicinity.” The vast majority of the village’s residents hold American citizenship but have criticized the US government for not doing enough to protect them from Israeli attacks, which largely remain unpunished, the Israeli newspaper adds.
According to Wafa, the attack on Turmus Ayya was just one of many that occurred on Monday evening. Settlers also raided the Palestinian village of Beita, in the northern West Bank, and threw stones at residents, injuring two, according to the Palestinian news agency. Furthermore, on a road outside the city of Bethlehem, settlers stopped a Palestinian vehicle at gunpoint and then sprayed pepper spray on the passengers inside the car, including a small child, according to reports from several Arab media outlets. Currently, there are no reports of arrests.
