(Adnkronos) – Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha and his Belgian counterpart Maxime Prévot were forced to hold their talks in an underground shelter, while an air alert sounded in Kyiv. “Due to Russian drones attacking our capital, we held our talks underground, in the air-raid shelter of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry: a daily reality for millions of Ukrainians, shared today also by our Belgian guests,” Sybiha emphasized on social media, publishing a photograph of the two ministers sitting at a table in a windowless room and a video of the two delegations walking through the underground corridors.
“I informed my colleague about the situation at the front, about Russian terror against our people, and about our ongoing peace efforts. I thanked Belgium for its support to Ukraine in the military, energy, humanitarian, and financial sectors since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, totaling over 4.6 billion euros. We deeply appreciate the one billion euros in military aid provided this year bilaterally and through multilateral programs, particularly the Purl program. I am also grateful for Belgium’s assistance in rebuilding our Chernihiv region at the front,” Sybiha emphasized.
