Tokyo, Aug. 13 (Jiji Press)–A tanker carrying Canadian crude oil has arrived in Japan for the first time since the situation in the Middle East deteriorated after the United States and Israel began attacks on Iran in February, according to Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. The arrival is “very welcome and significant from the perspective of energy security,” the prime minister said in a post on X, formerly Twitter, on Wednesday, as Japan is diversifying its energy procurement sources. Takaichi indicated that she sees no need for the government to release its crude oil reserves in August either.
