(Adnkronos) – The presence of a suspected explosive device at Treuchlingen station, south of the German city of Nuremberg, in Bavaria, has blocked railway traffic in the region. Special police forces inspected the object found on the tracks by a technician at the station entrance, then a team of federal police bomb disposal experts came into action. The suspicion that it is explosive material has not yet been ruled out, explain the experts, who are awaiting further verification by specialized forces. It is not yet known when railway traffic will resume: the blockade affects several regional services and long-distance routes. Emergency services are also evacuating nearby buildings as a precaution. Treuchtlingen has about 13,000 inhabitants and is located between Nuremberg and Ingolstadt. It was once an important railway hub.
