(Adnkronos) – Turkish diplomacy chief Hakan Fidan will visit Egypt tomorrow and Friday. The Turkish agency Anadolu reports that talks with Badr Abdelatty are scheduled, as well as a face-to-face meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. At the top of the agenda for talks with Egyptian counterparts are bilateral relations, cooperation in various sectors, but above all the Strait of Hormuz and the difficult negotiations between the US and Iran.
Fidan will confirm “support for diplomatic work” to “restore the ceasefire” between the two countries and for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Among the topics are also the situation in the Gaza Strip and the Gaza plan. Fidan, Anadolu reports, will also insist on the need to continue working to ensure stability and security in Libya.
Abdelatty was in Turkey last November. Fidan had been in Cairo in June for the fourth meeting of the foreign ministers of Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan and, according to Anadolu, will now insist on “the determination to continue working together.” Last Friday, Islamabad, Riyadh, and Ankara announced the ‘Mecca Agreement’. Turkey aims to expand the alliance.
