(Adnkronos) – Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, during his visit to Tehran, conveyed a special message to the Iranian leadership from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, regarding the regional situation. Al-Arabiya reports this, while a diplomatic source, quoted by Dawn, explained that the main objective of the mission is to follow up on Islamabad’s memorandum of understanding and Pakistan’s mediation efforts between Iran and the United States.
Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Tahir Andrabi, reiterated that Islamabad continues to work, together with “brotherly countries,” to find a solution to the crisis between Washington and Tehran. “Pakistan is making every possible effort to bring the two sides to the negotiating table and follow up on the Islamabad memorandum,” he stated, emphasizing the goal of promoting peace and stability in the region.
During the meetings, Naqvi also informed the Iranian authorities about the recent defense agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, apprising them of the contents of the understanding. The Pakistani Foreign Ministry clarified that Naqvi’s visit focused on bilateral relations and security-related issues, with particular attention to initiatives promoting peace, stability, and dialogue between the parties. According to media from the Islamic Republic, Naqvi was received by his Iranian counterpart, Eskandar Momeni, and subsequently met with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and President Masoud Pezeshkian.
