(Adnkronos) – Russia rules out any possibility of “freezing” the war in Ukraine without first addressing what Moscow calls the “root causes” of the conflict. This was stated to Tass by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin, while the United States is working on a possible relaunch of negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv. According to informed sources at the Kyiv Independent, American envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are reportedly ready to travel to the two capitals to present new proposals developed by Washington.
Kyiv considers freezing the current front line the most realistic basis for achieving a ceasefire. Moscow, on the contrary, continues to set as a condition for an agreement the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from the Donbas areas still under Kyiv’s control, a request rejected by Ukraine. Among the hypotheses under consideration there would also be a truce in air attacks, while in recent weeks both sides have intensified operations against targets located deep in enemy territory.
