(Adnkronos) – A 12-meter long, 4,500 kg SpaceX rocket has crashed on the Moon. Scientists stated that the rocket’s speed at the time of impact was approximately 8,700 km/h and that it created a new crater near the illuminated edges of the Moon. The force of the collision was equivalent to the energy released by the explosion of about 3 tons of TNT. SpaceX emphasized that it was an unintentional impact. The BBC reported that scientists have confirmed the rocket hit the Moon, but are awaiting definitive confirmation from data from the American space agency’s telescopes.
