(Adnkronos) – France today notified Russian journalist Xenia Fedorova of an expulsion order from the country. This was announced by the Ministry of Interior, following accusations of spreading pro-Kremlin propaganda on French television against Fedorova.
Disinformation experts have raised the alarm about the influence of the former journalist for the Russian state broadcaster RT, ahead of next year’s French presidential elections.
According to the newspaper ‘Libération’, which cites the ministerial decree, Fedorova’s “behavior harms the fundamental interests of the State” and her presence on French territory “therefore constitutes a particularly serious and current threat to public order.” “By spreading her narratives,” the journalist “acts as a spokesperson for disinformation campaigns orchestrated by Russian authorities” with the aim of “destabilizing public order” in France, it adds.
RT France was closed in 2023, a year after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Fedorova remained, taking on a role as a commentator for several media outlets. She regularly appears on the CNews television channel and Europe 1 Radio. She writes a column for Le Journal du Dimanche.
