(Adnkronos) – Democrats have an 11-point lead over Republicans in a recent poll that records the generic voting trend for next November’s midterm elections. According to data collected by Emerson College Polling, 53% of respondents say they are inclined to vote for Democrats in the House and Senate, without specifying a candidate, while 42% express the intention to vote for Republicans. Compared to last month’s survey, Democrats gained three points and Republicans two.
Crucial for the Democrats’ advantage is the women’s vote, as among female voters this rises to 27 points, while among male voters it drops to 5 points. The Emerson College Polling survey is not the only one indicating Democrats ahead for the November elections, but it is the one that records the most consistent, double-digit advantage. Decision Desk HQ gives Democrats a 4-point lead, the YouGov/The Economist poll a five-point lead, and Morning Consult a 3-point lead. Finally, pollster Nate Silver’s average shows Democrats leading by 6 points.
