4 China Coast Guard Ships Sail in Japanese Waters off Senkakus

Naha, Okinawa Pref., July 23 (Jiji Press)–Four Chinese coast guard ships sailed in Japanese territorial waters off the Senkaku Islands in the city of Ishigaki, Okinawa Prefecture, on Thursday. The Haijing ships crossed into the Japanese waters at a point around Uotsurijima, one of the islands, between around 4:05 p.m. and 4:20 p.m., according to the Japan Coast Guard’s 11th regional headquarters in Naha, the capital of the southernmost prefecture. This was the first intrusion into Japanese waters around the Senkaku chain by an official Chinese ship since July 7. All four vessels left the area between around 5:45 p.m. and 6 p.m. The Japanese-administered East China Sea islands are claimed by China. END [Copyright The Jiji Press, Ltd.]
