Italy: Rise in exports fruit of government action – Tajani

16 Luglio 2026

(Adnkronos) – A 3.4 percent increase in exports January through May from the same period last year and totalling 277.4 billion euros stems directly from the government’s economic and diplomatic action, foreign minister Antonio Tajani wrote Thursday on X after a data release by central statistics agency Istat.

“In the first five months of 2026, Italy’s exports totaled 277.4 billion euros, up +3.4% compared to the same period in 2025,” read the post.

“Exports in May 2026 hit 57.4 billion euros (in value): a 4.1 percent increase compared to May 2025,” the post continued.

Non-European Union markets were the principal driver of exports in the first five months of the year (+4.5 percent), bolstering “the already positive performance” of EU markets over the period (+2.5 percent), the post stated.

“These concrete results are the fruit of the government’s political and diplomatic initiatives, the foreign ministry’s action plan for exports, and accords signed with countries such as India and those in the Mercosur region (South America),” the post added.

“These results contribute to Italy’s economic growth and the well-being of its citizens through business and employment,” the post underlined.
