(Adnkronos) – Foreign minister Antonio Tajani and culture minister Alessandro Giuli will on Friday unveil Italy’s programme as guest of honour at the 40th edition of the Guadalajara International Book Fair taking place from 28 November through 6 December, the foreign ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

“Eighteen years after its last appearance as a guest country, Italy returns as a key player at the world’s most important event dedicated to Spanish-language books, with a presence that will highlight the excellence of Italian publishing and culture,” said the statement.

Speakers at Friday’s event include Italy’s foreign trade agency president Matteo Zoppas; Italian Publishers Association (AIE) president Innocenzo Cipolletta; the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL) president Jose Trinidad Padilla Lopez and its director, Marisol Schulz, as well as Mexico’s ambassador to Italy, Genaro Lozano.

The presentation will wrap up with a discussion between Schulz and two writers from the Italian delegation, Olga Campofreda and Viola Ardone, offering a first glimpse of the rich cultural programme Italy is rolling out for FIL, which includes performances by artists Mario Biondi, Paolo Fresu e Ada Montellanico, according to the statement.
