Iran, Trump gathers security advisors in Situation Room, ‘devastating’ attacks under consideration

(Adnkronos) – The President of the United States Donald Trump has gathered the National Security Council in the White House Situation Room to discuss a new large-scale offensive against Iran, intended to go beyond the current attacks in the Strait of Hormuz area. Three sources informed about the meeting told Axios that the goal is to inflict damage severe enough to push Tehran to reopen the Strait and accept American demands on the nuclear program. The same sources report that among those who participated in the meeting were Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and White House envoy Steve Witkoff. The meeting reportedly focused on plans for “devastating attacks” against strategic targets in Iran, in addition to ongoing operations against air defense systems, radar, anti-ship missile positions, and drone launch sites in the Strait of Hormuz area.
