(Adnkronos) – After a long legal battle with Donald Trump, Jean Carroll collects the over $5 million in damages that the former president was ordered to pay three years ago by a New York court that found him guilty of sexual assault and defamation of the woman. Federal Judge Lewis Kaplan has in fact ordered the release of the sum, approximately $5.6 million including interest, after the Supreme Court refused to hear the former president’s appeal against the ruling in recent weeks.
Trump’s lawyers have tried in every way to further delay the payment of compensation to Carroll, stating the need to await the outcome of the request made to the Supreme Court to re-evaluate their appeal, a type of request that rarely succeeds.
