Belgium, six dead in building fire in Brussels

(Adnkronos) – Six people have died in the fire that broke out at the Oxy Tower construction site, in Place de Brouckere, in the center of Brussels. This was confirmed late in the afternoon by the Auditorat du travail, the Belgian Public Prosecutor’s Office competent for labor and social security violations, specifying that the six workers initially reported missing were found dead inside a collapsed elevator. At the time of the blaze, approximately 250 workers were present at the construction site, all evacuated and assisted in a facility while firefighters conducted search and rescue operations. The causes of the fire are still under investigation.
