(Adnkronos) – North Korea will strengthen its nuclear arsenal “both in terms of quality and quantity.” This was announced by leader Kim Jong Un during the first enlarged meeting of the Ninth Central Military Commission of the Workers’ Party, according to state news agency Kcna. During the meeting, Kim signed seven military orders and approved measures to modernize the technical infrastructure of combat systems, as well as a plan to “standardize, specialize, and modernize military bases with a future-oriented vision.”
Kim stated in his speech that “the People’s Army must constantly play a leading and fundamental role not only in the defense of socialism, but also in the struggle for the overall development of the State.” The North Korean leader also argued that “only by building a strong army, capable of controlling and containing all threats with its powerful force, will it be possible to achieve true peace,” also announcing new strategies to give “a new impetus to the revolution in military education.”
