Belfast attack, first hearing for Alodid

(Adnkronos) – Hadi Alodid, the man accused of a serious knife attack in north Belfast, has been informed by the judge that he will face serious charges and should seek legal counsel. Alodid, 30, residing in Duncairn Avenue, in the north of the city, was charged last month with attempted murder in connection with a violent incident that occurred in early June. The victim, Stephen Ogilvie, in his forties, lost his left eye in the attack and also sustained injuries to his right eye. The incident sparked serious unrest in Belfast. 

On Wednesday, during a brief hearing at Belfast Magistrates’ Court, the ‘BBC’ reports, Hadi Alodid appeared via video link from Maghaberry Prison. During the hearing, he was handcuffed and escorted on both sides by prison officers. He was informed that his case will now proceed to the Crown Court and that the date for the next hearing will be set in four weeks. During the proceedings, translated by an Arabic interpreter, the prosecution outlined the charges against Hadi Alodid.
