(Adnkronos) – Tensions are high between Beijing and Tokyo after the Chinese coast guard announced it had driven away a Japanese ship from the waters near the disputed islands (the Senkaku Islands, known as Diaoyu in China, located between Taiwan and Okinawa, Japan). The Chinese navy stated in a communiqué that “the Japanese fishing vessel Zuihou Maru violated territorial waters and that Coast Guard vessels took the necessary measures to warn and expel it.” For its part, Japan reported the departure of Chinese ships from the area.
