Tokyo, July 3 (Jiji Press)–Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi and his Saudi Arabian counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud, have agreed on the importance of the international community speaking with one voice to restore safe and free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz without additional transit fees imposed by Iran. During their phone meeting on Thursday, the ministers also confirmed that they will make efforts to advance bilateral cooperation in the energy field. “Japan will continue to make every possible effort toward peace and stability throughout the Middle East, including the fostering of an environment conducive to reaching a final (U.S.-Iran) agreement,” Motegi said. “Japan intends to play an active role in strengthening the resilience of the region, including Saudi Arabia, through recovery and reconstruction efforts,” he also said.
